PSG Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side struck two times late to take a shock lead. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
